Cleaned in your kitchen

How we clean an oven

  1. Protect the kitchen

We put sheets down on the floor and worktop and lift out the racks, trays and runners. They go into a heated dip tank to soak while we work on the oven.

  2. Take it apart

We take the door off and split the glass where the model allows, then take out the fan cover and the side runners, so we can reach the grease behind them.

  3. Clean every part

Carbon is scraped off by hand, then a caustic-free gel lifts the grease from the enamel. The door glass is cleaned on both sides of every pane.

  4. Rebuild and test

We put everything back, wipe the outside and turn the oven on to check it heats. There are no fumes, so you can cook as soon as we leave.

What affects the price

  • The type of oven

A single oven is from £55, a double oven from £75 and a range cooker from £95. The minimum charge is £60. Send us the make or a photo of it open and we confirm the price.

  • How much carbon there is

Years of burnt-on carbon take longer to scrape off. Very heavy build-up can add an hour, and we tell you before we start if we expect that.

  • The hob and extractor

A hob or an extractor hood is £20 each when we clean the oven too, so the whole cooking area is done on one visit.

  • Moving out

An oven clean is part of every end of tenancy clean, so you do not need to book it separately.

Ovens we clean

  • Single and double ovens

Built-in and freestanding ovens, with the racks, trays and runners soaked in the dip tank while we clean the inside and the door.

  • Range cookers

Range cookers of all sizes, with two or more cavities, a grill and a wide hob. They take longest, up to 5 hours.

  • AGA and heat-storage cookers

These must be turned off the night before, so they are cold when we arrive. Tell us the model when you book.

  • Self-cleaning ovens

A pyrolytic cycle burns off the inside but leaves the door glass, racks, seals and fan cover dirty. We clean those with products that are safe for self-cleaning enamel.

The hob, the extractor and the rest

  • Gas hobs

The pan supports and burner caps cleaned of burnt-on spills, and the hob top degreased round every burner.

  • Ceramic and induction hobs

Burnt-on sugar and boil-overs lifted off the glass, then the top cleaned and polished so it does not streak.

  • Extractor hoods

The hood degreased inside and out and the grease filters cleaned, so it pulls steam and smells out properly again.

  • The outside

Seals, knobs, handles and the front of the oven wiped and polished, so it looks as clean as it is inside.

Signs your oven needs a clean

  • It smokes when it heats up

Old grease and food on the base and the fan cover burn every time you cook. That is the smoke and the smell.

  • You cannot see through the door

Grease builds up between the panes of glass, where a cloth cannot reach without taking the door apart.

  • Food tastes of old cooking

Burnt-on fat can taint whatever you cook next, especially at high heat.

  • How often to clean it

Once a year suits most homes. Every 6 months if you cook every day or roast a lot.

Clean it yourself or call us?

  • Shop-bought oven sprays

Many are caustic. They need gloves and an open window, and the fumes linger, so you may not want to cook straight after.

  • The parts you cannot reach

The glass between the door panes and the back of the fan cover only come clean when the oven is taken apart.

  • Racks and trays

Racks soaked in the bath rarely come fully clean. A heated dip tank lifts the carbon while we work on the oven.

  • When it is worth calling us

When the oven smokes, the door glass has gone brown, or you are moving out. A professional clean saves an afternoon of scrubbing and gets the parts you cannot reach.

Getting the oven ready

  • Turn it off

Turn the oven off at least 2 hours before we arrive, so it is cool enough to work on. An AGA needs to be off the night before.

  • Clear the space

Clear the worktop next to the oven and the hob, and take anything stored inside the oven or the grill out.

  • Tell us the make

Send us the make and model, or WhatsApp a photo of the oven open. It tells us how the door and fan cover come apart.

  • Someone to let us in

Someone needs to let us in and show us the oven. Many customers go out once we have started.

After the oven clean

  • Cook straight away

We use caustic-free products and rinse every part, so there are no fumes and nothing to burn off. You can cook as soon as the oven is back together.

  • Keeping it clean

Put a tray under dishes that bubble over, and wipe spills once the oven has cooled, before they bake on. Wipe the inside of the door after a roast.

  • Faults we find

We turn the oven on after the clean to check it heats. If an element, the fan or the thermostat is faulty, that needs an engineer, and we tell you what we found.

How a visit works

  • Point out the problem areas

Show us any stain or mark, and tell us what caused it and whether anything has been used on it already. Some home stain removers set a stain or strip the colour, and that changes what we use.

  • Water and power

We bring the products and the equipment. We only need running water and a plug socket, so leave both on until we finish.

  • Pets and children

Keep them out of the room while we work, and off anything we cleaned until it is dry.

Our promise

  • £5m insured

Public liability insurance on every job. Ask and we send the certificate before your clean.

  • DBS-checked team

Every technician has a DBS check. Our own team does every job, never subcontractors.

  • Free re-clean

Not happy with an area we cleaned? Tell us within 72 hours and we come back and clean it again, free.

Questions

How much does oven cleaning cost?

A single oven is from £55, a double oven from £75 and a range cooker from £95. A hob or an extractor hood is £20 each when we clean the oven too. We confirm a fixed price before we start, and the minimum charge is £60.

How long does an oven clean take?

A single oven takes about 2 to 3 hours, a double oven 3 to 4 hours and a range cooker up to 5 hours. Very heavy carbon can add an hour, and we tell you if we expect that.

Can I use the oven straight after?

Yes. We use caustic-free products and rinse every part, so there are no fumes and nothing to burn off. You can cook as soon as the oven is back together.

Do you clean between the door glass?

Yes, on most ovens. We take the door off and split the panes to clean the inside faces. A few doors are sealed and cannot be split safely. On those we clean both outer faces and tell you before we start.

Can you clean a range cooker or an AGA?

Yes, we clean range cookers of all sizes. An AGA or other heat-storage cooker must be turned off the night before, so it is cold when we arrive. Tell us the model when you book.

Can you clean a self-cleaning oven?

Yes. A pyrolytic cycle burns off the inside but leaves the door glass, racks, seals and fan cover dirty. We clean those, and use products that are safe for self-cleaning enamel.

Do I need to be home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the oven. Many customers go out once we have started. Please turn the oven off at least 2 hours before we arrive, so it is cool enough to work on.
